GOAL Academy Pueblo Area Kickball Tournament 2013

Friday, August 30, 2013, GOAL Academy held their very first kickball tournament and it was a huge success! The weather was perfect, the turnout was amazing, and the kicks were plenty!

As the crowd watched on, intensity filled the air and sweat ran down the players’ faces. It was the championship game of the Inaugural GOAL Academy-Pueblo Kickball Tournament. Students and staff from the Pueblo area GOAL Academy, and one team of staff from Colorado Springs competed for the "GOALden Cup" on Friday, August 30th at Stauter Field in Pueblo, CO.  Festivities included the main event, along with a barbecue and music by a Colorado National Guard representative. Ultimately, every player gave their all, but only one championship team could be crowned.  Team Mix-A-Lot, comprised of Pueblo Downtown staff and students as well as Pueblo Mall students, took home the GOALden Cup. The team will hold on to the trophy and remain undisputed champs until the next competition is scheduled.

Colorado Cyberschool Hike Day

For the past 2 years, the Colorado Cyberschools Association and the Colorado Coalition of Cyberschool Families have partnered to bring Cyberschool Hike Day to our families and we are proud to once again bring this event to our families this year.

Come join the students and families of Colorado’s online public schools for Cyberschool Hike Day on September 14th. This event will help celebrate recreational safety awareness in Colorado, raise much needed funds for local search and rescue and pay tribute to a special child.

On October 2, 1999, Jaryd Atadero went missing in the Colorado wilderness while on a hike at the age of three. Despite a massive search and rescue effort, Jaryd was never found. As an important reminder of the need for recreational safety, the State of Colorado and Governor Hickenlooper have proclaimed September 9 –15, 2013 as Recreational Safety Awareness Week in Jaryd’s memory. CyberSchool Hike Day will be a great way to honor Jaryd and celebrate this weeklong event.

Please see the Cyberschool Hike Day Flyer for all the details on the 4 different locations around the state we will be meeting. All 4 hikes will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday 14, 2013.

Please join us for a day of celebrating recreational safety awareness, meeting new cyberschool families, spending time with old friends, and enjoying Colorado’s great outdoors.

GOALAcademy Online High School Serving Students Across Colorado.  Our curriculum is delivered through online coursework, as well, we have also integrated low student to academic coach ratios so we can create relationships for greater success.  The part of our school which sets us apart from most online schools is that we have local drop-in centers with local academic teams .  GOAL Academy Drop-In Centers are a concept that came from the vision of the school, where engaging online instruction and face-to-face interaction was an essential part of the success of our students.

The centers are designed to be a resource to our students, families and staff.  It is natural to see all sorts of interactions happening in a drop-in center; tutoring, testing, socialization, community outreach, pizza parties, student club and organization meetings...the list goes on.  We want our students to know they always have a place to come to for any reason.  We have locations across Colorado.  They tend to be centrally located in areas of student concentration.  Any location across the state is available to a GOAL Academy Student.

We utilize experiential learning, concurrent enrollment college courses and career and technical education to acquire a greater experience while a student at our school.   We currently serve 2500 students statewide.  Our school works with various student populations;  At-risk, teen parents, traditionally homeschooled students, gifted and talented, students struggling with bullying or students whose life situations are preventing academic engagement.  Our wish for GOAL Academy students is to support them in earning the high school diploma they need as well as put them on a path post-graduation that will make them successful for a lifetime.
